2. Data processed by the app

Bootinizer lets you store information about your personal shoe collection. This may include shoe and storage-location photos, names, brands, categories, colors, storage locations, box labels, notes, favorite status, and creation, modification, and last-worn dates.

Custom color definitions contain a name you provide, the selected color value, and a technical identifier. They are stored locally. Once you assign a custom color to a shoe pair, it becomes part of that record and therefore also synchronizes through iCloud and may be shared with invited people. Editing updates affected pairs; deleting or resetting replaces the custom color with the nearest standard color.

The app keeps collection content in a local SwiftData store on your device. Your iCloud sync preference and the time of the last successful synchronization are also stored locally. Bootinizer requires no separate user account and operates no developer-owned server for your collection.

3. Photos and automatic color and storage-location detection

You can select a photo through the iOS photo picker or capture one directly after granting camera permission. Camera permission is used only for this capture feature. The image is stored as part of the shoe pair or storage location in the app’s data store.

Bootinizer analyzes the selected photo on your device to suggest the shoe's primary color and, where applicable, a secondary color. The app uses Apple's built-in Vision, Core Image, and Core Graphics frameworks to separate the shoe from the background and evaluate its color distribution. Only results with sufficient confidence are selected automatically; otherwise, the app asks you to choose and confirm the colors manually.

For storage-location detection, you may also store a reference photo of a shelf, cupboard, or other storage location locally. The app can additionally use photos of previously assigned shoe pairs as references. It evaluates the shoe and the visible background separately and compares them with the locally stored references. A storage location is suggested automatically only when confidence is sufficient; otherwise, manual selection or confirmation is required.

All photo analysis is performed entirely on your device and requires no network connection. Analysis results are not sent to the developer or analytics services. The photos, confirmed colors, and storage-location assignments are nevertheless part of your collection and therefore synchronize through iCloud and may be shared with people you invite, as described in section 4.

4. iCloud synchronization and private sharing

When iCloud sync is enabled, Bootinizer transfers your collection to Apple’s iCloud/CloudKit service. Content is stored in your iCloud account’s private CloudKit database and synchronized across your devices. Technical identifiers, modification dates, and push notifications are used to associate records and synchronize changes in the background. Push notifications are not used for advertising.

You can disable iCloud sync in Settings. Your local collection remains available; Bootinizer unregisters from remote change notifications and does not connect to CloudKit until you enable it again. Content already stored in iCloud is not automatically deleted. After re-enabling sync, you can trigger it manually.

As the owner, the sharing feature lets you deliberately share the entire library with specified iCloud users. A share is not public and access requests are disabled; only people you invite and Apple verifies receive read-write access and may jointly edit the collection. Only the owner can invite people, view their acceptance status and the names and, where provided by Apple, email addresses shown in the app, revoke access, or stop sharing. Invited people cannot add further participants. CloudKit processes this participant information; it is not sent to developer-operated servers.

According to Apple, private and shared CloudKit data is not visible in the developer portal. The developer operates no separate server and does not retrieve your collection for analytics, advertising, or marketing. Processing by iCloud is also governed by your iCloud settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

5. Voluntary feedback by email

The feedback feature can voluntarily prepare an email to philipp.dewitt@outlook.com. The template includes the app version and build number, your iOS version and device model, and any text you add. The message is sent only after you confirm it in the presented mail interface; you can edit or cancel it first. Your email provider’s terms also apply to this processing.

6. No analytics, advertising, or tracking

The app does not use analytics or tracking services, display advertising, or include external advertising SDKs. The developer does not use your collection for advertising, profiling, or marketing and does not sell it.

7. Retention and deletion

When you delete a shoe pair in the app, it is removed from the active collection and a deletion marker synchronizes through CloudKit so that it does not reappear on connected devices. The underlying CloudKit record may remain as a record marked as deleted for technical conflict resolution; further retention is governed by Apple’s terms and technical processes. Removing the app deletes the local store on that device, but does not automatically delete records stored in iCloud; those records may synchronize again after reinstalling the app.

Stopping a share ends participants’ future access through CloudKit. Copies created outside the app cannot be deleted remotely. Device backups depend on your personal iCloud or computer backup settings.

8. Your data protection rights

Where the legal requirements are met, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

You can view and correct your collection and remove individual items from the active collection. As the owner, you can manage sharing through Apple’s CloudKit interface; if you are an invited participant, the owner can end your access. Because private CloudKit content is not displayed to the developer in the developer portal, management through the app and your iCloud account is the intended route. 9. Provision of this website

This website is provided through Cloudflare. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, California 94107, USA. When you visit the website, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data, in particular your IP address, information about the page requested, the time of access, and the device or browser used.

This processing is necessary to provide the website securely, reliably, and quickly and is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and additionally uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. This website itself does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking services.

10. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy will be updated if the app’s functionality or its data processing changes. The current version will remain permanently available at this address.
